Election @ SHOBA
It was a crisp September morning in 2024, and the campus of Sarvodaya Co-Ed Vidyalaya No.1, Shakti Nagar, a prestigious institution, was abuzz with excitement. The day had arrived for the student body alumni elections at SHOBA, and the candidates were all set to face the voters.
The Election Officer, Dushyant Singhal, a man with a keen eye for detail and a passion for fair play, supervised the entire process with dedication and integrity.
In the nomination process, President Prof. G.S. Chilana, Secretary Salil Gandhi, and Joint Secretary Pradeep Gupta were elected unopposed.
As alumni members cast their ballots, the atmosphere was filled with the buzz of eager minds determined to make their voices heard. The candidates, all seniors, had campaigned tirelessly for weeks, vying for key positions in the management committee.
Among them was Yogesh Garg, a charismatic personality with a vision for a more inclusive and vibrant campus life. His opponent, Pramod Gupta, a brilliant strategist known for his organizational skills and dedication to social causes, contested for the post of Treasurer, SHOBA.
Other contestants, Kailash Gupta and Lokendra Singh, were in the race for the post of Vice President.
As votes were counted, election officials worked diligently to ensure complete transparency. Dushyant Singhal maintained a watchful eye on every aspect β from ballot boxes to the final count.
The results were closely contested. While Yogesh and Pramod were neck and neck, Pramod Gupta emerged victorious, winning by a healthy margin. Kailash Gupta was chosen as Vice President.
The alumni members cheered, applauded, and celebrated the spirit of democracy as the candidates shook hands β gracious in both defeat and victory.
Additionally, there were 14 contestants for the post of Executive Members, of which 10 were elected from among the alumni.
The alumni of SHOBA learned a valuable lesson that day β democracy is not merely about winning or losing, but about participation, mutual respect, and working together for the greater good.
